So I should probably mention that as well as baking and cooking I make films and Mhairi more often than not is involved...this film included a sea themed wedding which should have included someone ( originally intended to be Mhairi) smashing into a giant frosted wedding cake....
...it didn't quite pan out that way but I did end up making a rather hideous/delightful depending on your opinion sea themed cake!
I can't tell you whether it tasted any good, though I assume yes, as a dog named Puzzle was instructed to lick it all over and as such it ended up in the ocean
....a fitting end...
As for the recipe....well as far as I can remember it was just plain old victoria sponge, in four layers of two different sizes, with royal icing over the top and decorated with painted on blue food colouring for the sea 'effect' and using an icing bag with star nozzle to do the little bits around the edges in blue and yellow icing. To make a palm tree I stuck some spider plant leaves (torn fresh from a pot plant) and stuck them on a cocktail stick and then scattered some glass fish and shells around the place...as it was essentially a prop it wasn't too important that it be edible...
